Overall an excellent book but hampaered by the OVERUSE of ACRONYMS.
I prefer books that have relevant figures or tables on the same page as the referred to text.
For me (a retired surgeon/anatomist) who has been fascinated by evolution, both paleological and molecular evidence it is a real Eye opener.

This book fills a needed hole in the books about the pharma/drug industry. It provides a concise review of the drugs from discovery to approval and details the various steps along the way, including discovery, clinical trials, manfacturing and approval. There is enough science to provide the necessary background but not so much that the non scientist would be overwhelmed. It is well illustrated with plenty of diagrams and outlines. Dr. Ng delivers on a summary which can be read by novice to intermediate who desires to know more about the process. I think this book is a must read for attorneys or business people who are looking to understand the drug approval process and are working in the industry. It is also up to date which is very important in this field, where regulations can change. Finally it covers both US and other countries, although its US coverage is better than its non US coverage. This is the only reason I did not give the book 5 stars.

I find this book a good personal reference in a short concise form and therefore recommend it.

Energy Systems Engineering: Evaluation and Implementation Review

During my time as an undergrad at Cornell University, one of my favorite classes has been a renewable energy course taught by one of the authors, Lou Albright, with Energy Systems Engineering as the primary textbook. Apart from being clear, well-written, and well-organized, the book does a great job of blending background information, justification for technologies, discussion of practical issues, and quantitative analysis of systems in a manageable and engaging way. Working through it was very empowering and it played a big role in getting me excited about energy. It's also very accessible as a reference for specific projects. I would highly recommend it to other students interested in learning how to work with and analyze energy systems.
